Hello Everyone,
I wrote in a while back... I have PA...almost no P and have had a lot of trouble with pain in my feet and legs and elbows... I have been on Enbrel for about 7-8 months and recently changed to Humira for the last two... I have also been on 10 pills of 2.5 Metho once a week and Relefin every five hours or so for the last two months...
although the pain seemed to go away some initially with the beginning of each new agent, the pain has returned and is now pretty much constant...with morning stiffness, problems with my achilles tendons and worse of all: an intense burning in the flesh my feet that is truly dreadful...
My question is: is there a hospital or doctor that anyone thinks is the best for PA in the NYC area? One of the issues is that very few specialists take insurance in NYC...I have Oxford.
Any suggestions would be extremely helpful, I have been really frustrated finding someone who can help...
Thanks so much and all the best to everyone...

Try Dr. Gary Solomon at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. He does a lot of PA work. He does not accept insurance to the best of my knowledge.

I go to Dr. Jason Faller. He took my insurance which is an Oxford Plan. He is on West 57th Street and is a rheumy.

Thanks so much for the response... I do have an appoinment for Solomon, but at $500 a pop that's pretty hard to keep up! I am curious about Dr. Faller... is he good with PA particularly? do you think he is very good? it seems to me that often rheumy's don't always know too much about PA...
thanks again! ~wade

Actually, rheumys usually know a great deal about both rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. Dr. Faller is director of the arthritis clinic at Roosevelt Hospital. I have had a good experience with him and he helped me get on Humira, which has been great for me.

I will go and see Dr. Solomon tomorrow...I hope that he can help...
Humira has not worked for me... Nor has enbrel nor has the Metho and the anelgisics...at the moment I have pretty intense pain through out my limbs...like my flesh is on fire, it is worse then anything I have experienced before...
so...we will see what happens I am keeping my fingers crossed...
thanks for your help
best

Dr. Solomon is my dr. and he's the best. You are right though, he does not accept insurance.

Your follow up visits won't be that hight...I think about half that price. He's worth it in my opinion.

Yes,
thanks for asking...
I do like Dr. Solomon... He told me that I have Neuropathy and that most likely
it is unrelated to the PA (which I also have...) It was a pretty depressing diagnosis..
the pain has been something that I could never believe...kind of like being stung by bees and being burned at the same time...all through my arms, feet and hands...
I find it hard to believe that the two problems don't come from the same source...
but he thinks they are separate issues...
Anyway... now we need to find the source of the Neorpathy if we can...
best
