Hi everybody

I am brand new to this forum. I was Googling for Manuka honey and psoriasis and ended up here. Boy am I glad to have found you guys! You've probably heard stories like mine a hundred times but here goes . . .

I started having an itchy scalp some time about February. Then I started getting serious flakes and thought it was seborhhea and used a dandruff shampoo. When the flakes became as big as my finger nail and my scalp started weeping, I knew I was way beyond trying to treat it myself. During this time, I had a teeny little red spot on my adomen that I would occasionally put a homeopathic cream on. It never got bigger and I didn't give it much thought. When I went to the dermatologist, he told me I had psoriasis. Well, that seemed to be the magic word. It was like an explosion. I had red itchy plaques all over my chest and adomen and the underside of my breasts and groin were a purple weeping mess.

(There must be a limit to how long a post can be because all of a sudden I couldn't type any longer - so with your permission I will try to continue about the Fujining plasters in the next post )

I hope this works - I haven't posted here before . . .

So I read everything I could find about P and am now taking about 30 pills a day. I tried every natural P remedy and nothing worked. My groin was so raw that I couldn't wear regular underwear - the elastic made things even worse. I finally ended up wearing men's boxer briefs because they have long legs and no elastic. I made an apron out of an old T-shirt to wear under my bra because my skin was so raw.

Finally, I talked to a Chinese herbalist and he told me about these medicated plasters called Fujining. At this point I was ready to try anything. The plasters look like squares of adhesive tape. The side that stick to the skin has been infused with some kind of medication. I wore the plasters for 2 days and when I took them off, my skin was totally clear. Needless to say, I was thrilled! Only problem, things started coming back in a couple of days. So I have been on a cycle, the patches on for 2 days and then off and them back on. I found out if a use a spray called Zoriasis that has licorice extract in it, and if I dust everything with clay, I can increase the "off" time. It has now been 2 weeks since I last used the patches. My skin isn't totally clear but it is 100 times better than before.

My question is .... has anyone heard of Fujining? I tried to find out the ingredients on the internet with no luck. I have been trying to avoid using steroids and it would really be ironic if these patches contain cortisone or some other kind of steroid.

Sorry, but I haven't heard of it, it might be good to find out the ingredients from the guy who gave them to you.

I found that putting something on my skin helped in the short term. My real healing came with changing my diet and eliminating food like processed food, sugar and alcohol. The skin is just a red flag for what's going on inside you. It takes a few weeks of being smart about diet to see the healing, but believe me it works in the long run!

Look at posts here about diet, supplements, etc. A good start is to look at GitOverIt's story. Good Luck!

I think it may contain a steroid. See http://www.qxan.com/english/Psoriasis/psoriasis_11.htm

welcome lindon....

I looked it up and this is what i found......
I alsio had inverse P under boobs, stomach and groin, and arm pits some times....gone now....thanks to no sugar and being careful of diet plus adding transdermal magnesium to my daily protocol.......
Prior to getting clear I used zinc oxide (drugstore OTC) or Desitin which has zinc oxide in it......great for burning, itching and all discomfort but doesn't really get rid of the inverse P......sugar was really bad for it!!!!

if you check Triamcinolone acetonide and neomycin paste it seems to be a skin steroid!

Thanks everybody for the welcome.

I had found the same description as GitOverIt but I when I saw the all the different names for the patches I must have skimmed right over the important part! Neomycin is an antibiotic and sure enough -- the Triamcinolone acetonide is a cortico steroid. I knew it was too good to be true! It's been 2 weeks since I had to use a patch and I think things are actually getting better. Maybe it's the combination of using the Zoriasis spay and then dusting with the clay. I also started using a Chinese remedy called Quell the Surface which might be helping. I read GitOverIt's posts about the Transdermal Magnesium and this sounds really promising. I've been taking oral magnesium to relax my muscles but unfortunately if I take too much, it causes other problems. :-( Absorbing it topically sounds like the way to go.

When I went to the derm for my scalp he gave me samples and prescriptions for a foam and a shampoo. When I found out the foam had steroids in it I threw it away but I tried the shampoo which was just a strong solution of salicyclic acid which I figured couldn't be too toxic. I used a Chinese remedy for what they call "snake skin" - itching and scaling -- and my scalp started clearing up in about 2 weeks and was all finished in about a month. I stopped using the Chinese remedy and the shampoo but now my hair seems to be falling out. Great! I have a clean scalp and pretty soon everybody will be able to see just how clean it really is! I wonder if the magnesium oil will help my hair regrow?

I am having some hair fallout also.....I have been lax about taking my B complex and extra folic acid both good for hair.....as is magnesium.....the problem is putting magnesium on the scalp and leaving it! I did it once and should do it again for overnight! I just get so tired of being a slave to my scalp!!! I was free of scalp P for a year after my bout with difflucan...except for threee spots on the back of my neck/hairline....but the hair is still coming out recently...I seem to go through this periodically...just when it looks like its grown back....bam it starts up again!
Dr Heng said to soak my hair in a bath tub with a 1/2 cup of bleach (like a swimming pool) to kill the yeast/fungus ....that helps with the yeast but not the hair fallout....so today I started upping the B complex....we'll see!

I'm like you. I have bouts of hair loss. I think mine are linked to hormones. I've been taking B complex for years and Biotin for about a year. I haven't seen that it has helped at all. I went up to the Health and Wisdom website and they recommend mixing the Magnesium gel with shampoo but I would think that would just wash the magnesium away. I might try adding it to my conditioner. I placed my order for both the gel and the oil yesterday. I also ordered Polysorbate 80 - it's a food additive but it's also supposed to help away excess DHT that can cause hair loss. You use it before shampooing. Do you think it could trigger the scalp P again?
