hi everyone IM 53 and had p all life 80% of my body my question is: I have two dr. in my area that give uvb one give short high dose and the other give low dose long time who better?
Roger,
I am using narrowband UVB to treat my psoriasis. It has really helped.
I am not sure what you should do, but the difference may be in
wavelength of the UVB. THere is narrowband and broadband UVB treatments. I
don't know if the amount of time of treatment is the difference between bb
and nb. According to the NPF info on UVB nb is most effective. I would
call the derms and ask questions about what they are doing.
One effect of UVB treatment is tanning. Just like sitting in the sun
for too long, you can burn if over exposed. Using shorter treatments, but
more often may be better if you tend to burn easier. Before you go for
your first visit I would question the derm about the treatment and how
most other people react to their version of treatment.

I got burned with UVB, even though they were being careful. 3x a week for 4 mos. and these rare burns offset any clearing Who has that time? Dr didn't tell me what spectrum he was using. All I know my p looked better thru the treatment then near the end or shortly after I ended UVB I developed more severe p probably from the burn injuries. 3 yrs later I'm covered at 40% compared to 25% when I started UVB . I think this along with steroids have so many side effects they are not worth it
