Hi - My name is Erin. I'm 30 years old and have had psoriasis for about 6 years. It is so great to finally see a place where I can talk about how much this has affected my life without getting that glazed-over look that most people give me when I mention it. I've been on Enbrel for about a year and a half and I am about to go off of it so my husband and I can start a family, needless to say the idea of not being able to take the one thing that has kept me mostly clear is really freaking me out. Anyway - I hope to make some new friends and lend my support to all of you out there!

Erin

Nice to meet you Erin and good luck with starting a family.I can't remember if being pregnant supresses psoriasis or inflames it-I think it supresses it but I'm a guy and those things don't stick as well as they should.Good to see some new faces show up on the board-I'm sure there must be a lot that don't post and just read the info but thats ok but there is support from lots of people here if you need it-psoriasis is such a personal disease-but it feels better to share with others in the same boat.petey

Agreed...support from "those who know" is an amazing thing!

For the record, pregnancy can either suppress P, OR inflame it. Just depends on the woman's chemical reaction, and there's no way to know that until it happens. Many of the ladies here will say they cleared 100% while pregnant...but there are a few (myself included) who flared badly.

And Erin? Go SLLOOOOOWWWWWW on coming off the Enbrel and brace yourself mentally/emotionally for a possible (doesn't always happen, but can) rebound flare. If you come off the drug slowly enough, you shouldn't get one (this is not a reaction exclusive to Enbrel...it's possible anytime you come off any drug).

Best luck and have fun!

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome, stopping the Embrel is really going to be tough - my doc and I got me down to a shot every other week and I saw it creeping back, I went back up to once a week so I could have somewhat of a normal summer, but I am so scared it will get as bad as it did before. I never really had a "flare" - it's just always there. I had a spot on my elbow for about 2 years before it became a full blown nightmare. No topical ever seemed to touch it. I'm really worried about it getting on my hands or feet, because as a nurse I don't know how I'll be able to work, plus when spots did show at work I could tell it made some of my patients uncomforatble. The Embrel make me feel normal again. I hope I'm one of those who gets better while pregnant. Here's hoping!
