Hey there, Gang.

Does anyone have a link to a thread here on the boards that lists various places to find assistance in getting prescriptions filled without insurance? There was one here in which I was fortunate enough to sign up with The Encourage Foundation for Enbrel and am hoping to find something similar for either Methotrexate or Cyclosporine.

Also, given the MANY emergency room visits and various specialists (rheum and derm) that I have seen, my primarcy care doc has reccomended that I look into filiing for disability benefits. I've lost every job (and almost two very serious relationships) I've had during the past three years in one way, shape, or form due to complications from dealing with flare-ups that have wracked my body and truly messed my mind up (usual, but no less flippant emotional cr*p that comes from dealing with this god-awful disease). Does anyone know what steps I should start taking for this?

Thanks all. Hope ya'll are having a good day.

Hi Tyberious13,

I'm at work right now (which means that I'm NOT supposed to be here  ) so I'm going to have to keep this brief. Here's a link to a thread that has links and information to just about every assistance program that has been discussed here on the board:http://www.psoriasis.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12378.

I hope this helps.

Sorry for the rushed response.

Mike

You rock, Sara!

I have just finished contacting three pharmaceutical companies on that list and it is looking like I will likely qualify for some free cyclosporine, clobetasol, and possibly (for a small fee) methotrexate (in case the cyclo program falls through). Amazing what taking the time to make a 2 minute phone call can make. Again, these boards continue to be a blessing when the chips are down. Thanks, girl! =)

I didn't think that methrexate was very expensive. I think it may be available on the list of 4 dollar generics at Walmart....If you go on disability you may also qualify for your state's pharmeceutical assistance program. In NJ whatever age you are you can qualify for PAAD as long as you meet income restrictions....

A couple of days back I filled out the ss disability form online. Man, that thing is LONG. Took a good solid three hours, but I got it all done and submitted. Haven't heard anything back yet.

Did my third Enbrel injection, but feeling no relief yet. Flare-up still ongoing and spreading. Joint pain continues too. Hoping to have some Cyclosporine come in around middle of week. That should speed up recovery quite quickly (300mg/day) taken along with the Enbrel. I hope.

I agree with Kelly - I recently got a prescription filled for methotrexate (you only take a few pills per week). I believe the 25% co-pay for 16 pills was $1.58. DottieD
