Hi

I was recently dx with PA. Most of the time I have energy enough, but I find during the day sometimes I'll have a spell of sudden body type weakness, and tiredness. Sort of like a fluey type body ache but no flu of course. Is this a symptom of PA. It seems to vanish in the same way it descends. Sort of abruptly. It's like feeling like I'm coming down with a bug, but then it goes and I'm ok. Any explanations please??

thanks

I get that all the time! Just a wave of exhaustion. Usually when I'm really stress and needing to get something done quickly. It's like I'm suddenly trying to do it underwater. Your not getting MS or anything, it's just good old PA doing it's thing. And like you, until I found this board and started hearing other peoples' symptoms I didn't know what the heck was wrong with me. I never thought to complain to my doc about it. I just thought I was getting old! :D

Hope you feel better soon!
Love to all!
Fay

Fay thanks so much for the response. I am just worried there is MORE wrong with me. 2 dx's in the space of 2 months is a bit much (p and pa). Glad to hear it is 'just' the pa.

I definitely get that flu-ey feeling when I'm flaring. Yep, it feels like you are "coming down with something" but you never do!

This week has been like that for me. All day I seem just fine, but in the evening I'm overwhelmingly sleepy and achy. Fortunately, I have a husband who helps me out enormously, so I've been going to bed early and getting extra sleep.

Wow, I'm somewhat new to this site as well, and although I've had P for years, just recently saw a rummy and started my enbrel shots. But just recently, I've has these same fluey type symptoms myself. I thought it was probably the fact that the enbrel decreases your immune systems ability to fight off infections, and thus, I was probably coming down with something. But as you describe, I've got it for a few hours, and then I don't have it. Weird. This is the weirdest dang disease I've ever come across. Glad to hear from the other responsdees. Now I feel better.

I should say that now that I'm on Humira, I don't get the flu-ey thing unless I AM coming down with something. In the past, it seemed my body was in a constant state of fighting off a bug that it was imaginary. Since your immune system is overactive with P/PA, it makes sense.
