I have been spending hours on this forum reading about gout and cortisone, etc. I have been doing everything with meds I have been told to do. In reading here I just get confused more about how to treat it, or is it really gout? I know....aspiration is probably in order even though my blood work does not show high uric acid. I wish there was a definitive test for PA. Even though I have been diagnosed years ago....You begin to wonder. MTX has NOT stopped joint damage in my case. So, is it just osteo? You can tell I am not showing any positive thoughts for medicine today. Must be the pain!! :( H*ll, it must be my age!

So, it is off to the rheumy this morning for a cortisone shot...my first, for this condition. I hope they can take me. I am miserable. I had to leave my purchases in the basket yesterday at Costco (no perishables) and just go home. Too late for the rheumy...they close at 3-4. Must be nice.

Thanks for listening,
Juanita

Well wouldn't ya know.....she is not in her office today. Guess I will just get back on the Colchicine for the weekend. I guess I could go to my regular PCP but don't know if they would interfere.

Regular PCP will intervene and do something about gout. They treat it as well. Don't wait, and suffer!

Miss J,

Did you say your uric acid was not high? :o my dad who has gout uric acid is quite high when he's flaring with gout, this kinda raises an eyebrow..

Geesh, to me if it looks like a duck..and PA has a mind of it's own and will go wherever it damn pleases it doesn't discriminate with joint involvement.

Hopefully, there will be a test in the offing for PA like there are with RA, but is there any one difinitive test? It's a big puzzle....

Not sure that any one medication can " stop " the joint progression in some of us, they may be able to slow it down...perhaps if caught early enough?

Please don't suffer this weekend, see if your PCP will shoot ya up and offer some relief....all he/she can say is " no "...you have a few football games to watch and you want to enjoy them and look for the method I use in choosing a winner of a game!! :p
