Hello- I'm just wondering if anyone has ever tried flaxseed oil and/or fish oils for the treatment of psoriasis. I have been reading quite a bit of info on their benifits. I have bad pitting on all of my nails and p on my scalp. I saw a homeopath the other day and she also agreed. I only started this two weeks ago but it seems as though my nails are starting to grow out normally. She also prescribed some enzymes to get my digestion on the right path. Anyone ever gone this route? It seems as though everyone is having problems with regular doctors treating this stuff with nasty drugs that just treat the symptoms and not the underlying problem of psoriasis.

I hope I have not rambled on too much here. I just wanted to get something out on the table. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Joe - I am in St Paul. I had a good response to both the Omega fish oils and grape seed extract. I believe I was seeing positive results from these items as long as I maintained some sort of medicinal regimine whetehr topicals or UVB treatments. In addition to assiting with skin ailments to some degree, these ar items we should be using in our diets regualarly anyhow. One trick though, make sure you are eating something with the fish oils they can have a nasty after taste.

Hello,
I am a long time user of cod liver oil, flaxseed oil, borage oil and evening primrose oil. I definately think taking them has helped me. It made my skin softer and my p doesn't flake up and fall off. I agree with tsicard - that using it alone doesn't do much for the p. I combine mine with pulse dosing of Cormax (clobetasol) and Dovonex. I use Dovonex M-F 2X's daily and Cormax once per day Sat and Sun. I also go to the beach 1-2 times weekly which helps. I've had almost complete clearance for about 4 months, so what I'm doing seems to be working for the most part.

PS - My dr. sent me for blood test to test my thyroid (he thought it was overactive due to weight loss). He mentioned that I had lots of 'good' cholesterol from the oils. So, it definately has it's benefits.
