I am going to post this in here on just on the P board as I also saw users of this med there and what opinions from as many people as I can.

Well, I started taking Lunesta over a week ago. It leaves a horrible taste in my mouth (wrote on board about it). Dr. Wanted to continue and take it with jelly to see if that would help. Well, it did somewhat and it is semi tolerable if only the med would actually help me sleep. I take it right before bed but sometimes (just like before) it's 2 to 3 am before I am asleep. Tuesday night I didnt fall asleep until 6. When I do sleep I do wake up every couple of hours to regroup and get comfy. Sometimes I fight to get back to sleep.

I really need to find a med that actually works as this is getting bad, Anyone have any suggestions? Is there differant dosing levels and maybe they need to adjust it? Anyone have good experiences with other long term sleep meds?

Thanks in advance

What other meds have you tried? Elavil and/or ambien knocks me out completely.

I answered on your other thread regarding Ambien. Worked for me and no bad taste.

I tried Elavil with no luck. I did ambien before and it worked better than the lunesta but I had such weird dreams and it's not for long term use. I hear that the Ambien CR is for long term use and guess that will be my next try. My dr. also put me on Restoril 30mgs last year and this also did nothing for me. Ever since my back surgery in 03 I have fought a nightly battle. I just want to be somewhat normal and be able to stay in bed and asleep for at least 4 hours straight. I dont think I am asking for much. I am so tired of being tired and having zero energy to anything. I am tired of getting out of bed so I wont disturb dear hubby while I toss and turn. I am tired of going to the other room.

Yikes sorry about that rant.

Has anyone ever tried Lyrica? My PCP gave me a script for it, but usually when I'm working I can't take it because I can't get up in the morning. It's usually used for RLS, but it will let you sleep.

Mary,

I see a sleep specialist who has had me on ambien for a year now, I take it every single night. If I didn't, I would not sleep. He said its better than the alternative which is not sleeping, not getting restful sleep doesn't help us and can lead to further issues. Although now it takes a bit longer for me to fall asleep, I find once I'm out I'm out. He said if it stops working he has plenty more in his arsenal.

I have heard trazadone ( sp ) can also be helpful.

Best wishes in finding something to help you get a good nights sleep, I recall how awful it was not sleeping..
