Hi
I am newly dx as most of you would know. Rheum. put me on Celebrex and it made me feel sick, have now stopped it and feel better, and will see her on Tuesday.
I feel so agonised (if there is a word) right now!
I read so much about how important it is to treat this early to avoid joint damage - but I want to have a baby! How do I have a baby, and look after my joints for the year or so that I can't have anything while I'm pregnant. Is it just a risk to take?? Or do I need to wait until this initial stage is over. Do I do it now before it gets worse. Any ideas from people. thanks.

Hi,
Believe it or not many go into remission thanks to being pregnant!!!! of course not for the guys lol...
And if for some reason you flare afterwards ( not unheard of ) there are plenty of other nsaids out there for you to try, like a bizzillion of them, even topical nsaids can be compounded... :) I'm pretty sure that nsaids are contraindicated during pregnancy.
Hang in there, talk to your rheumy and tell her /him of your concerns hopefully he/she will be able to put your mind at ease.

NSAID's are contrainidcated. Very happy to hear about remission during pg though. Will talk to the rheumy tomorrow.
thankyou again :-)

Hello -
First welcome! I am sorry you have been dx'd with this... As for ttc, depending on how close you are to starting ttc & how aggressive your PA is - you have some options...
I have severe P & mild PA. I was on Enbrel from Jan 2004 - Mar 2006. During this time, both my P & PA went into remission. Upon stopping Enbrel, my P flared horrible, however, my PA stayed in remisssion. I used light treatments to get my p back under control during my ttc. When I was around 12 weeks pregnant, I spotted so my Dr pulled me out of the treatments.
So far I have had only minor swelling & joint tightness in my right ankle (swelling above & beyond the typical cankles of pregnancy), that leads me to believe my PA is starting flare... I have not spoken to my Derm about it yet, b/c I cannot do any treatments until February - however, if it gets worse I will be changing my breastfeeding plan & going on the Enbrel more quickly post-birth than 3 to 4 months.
Wishing you the best!! If you have any questions, please let me know... I will warn you, TTC could take you longer than you expect. For me, it was the longest year of my life... I cannot begin to tell you how blessed I feel now, but that year was filled with lots of tears of frustration & pain... The ending is a blessing nothing can compare to it.
