I was diagnosed with psoriasis at 10 and pa at 17. I've always been covered during the winter. I've done meth. and steroids. I didn't have much luck. Anyway, I have a 15 month old son. I just read the other messages about how severe p in babies can be. I never new p could be in the mouth and throat. I had no idea this could be more than a skin condition. My question is..Is there a family history of p in these cases? I have to admit, reading these messages made me worry about my own son, especially since my p has been so severe. Any input on this? Thanks, Kellyl

Dear Kellyl,
As far as family history in our case my husbands mother's cousin has some psoriasis, and on my side my grandfather's brother had a slight case of scalp psor. So when Lillian was born with this rash we didn't have a clue what it was and only found a family link after lots of digging. But of course Lillian's case seems to be a bit unusual. We are still having genetic studies done and they are finding out some interesting things. Her derm went to a conference recently and there was a doctor who is doing studies on the conexion26 gene linked to psor., well that is the same gene that when has abnormalities causes deafness which my daughter is. So anyway I think it is just the luck of the draw as to what you will have and your son might be just fine. Lets cross our fingers anyway. Good luck.
