Hey everyone. I haven't posted here in a while because, well...because I've been doing so great. I want to thank everyone for your support and tips and thank the NPF for hosting this wonderful community. Here's a list of what I've been doing for treatment for the last 5 months or so....

P friendly diet-Lots of fruits, veggies, fresh fish, rice etc. ALL NATURAL absolutely NO ADDITIVES....it was hard at first but now it just comes naturally. And not only does it do wonders for my skin but I also feel much better in general. Oh! And LOTS of olive oil.

Barney's Formula-Everyday I take 1 multi vitamin, 2 ibuprofens, 4000 IU of Vit D, 1 tumeric, 1 goldenseal and 6 fish oil caps. This isn't the full version of Barney's Formula but it works for me.

On the skin-Coconut Oil! Everyday after I shower I completely cover myself in coconut oil paying extra attention to the knees and elbows. Somedays I'll reapply to the elbows, one of my problem areas. I also use Dovonex once a day, and elidel every other day. These help problem areas but honestly I think the coconut oils does more for me. I was using 'apple cider vinegar with mother' as well but I don't seem to need it anymore. I think once I restored my acid mantle with the ACVWM the acids in the coconut oil were enough to continue supporting it. I highly recommend ACVWM to anyone with bad P though. Just start with a diluted solution until you're skin gets used to it. It's especially good for the scalp but if you have long hair like me then there will be a lingering scent of vinegar. When I started I used it everyday for a week and then every other day and then once a week and so on. Now it's been 3 months since I've had to use it. The only thing I use on my scalp now is Dr Bonner's Castille Baby Soap every other day and on my body once a day.

And as of right now, I'm about 98% percent clear! There a still a few old areas that are slightly darker than normal but I think those just take longer to fully heal. But everything is smooth and soft and looks very healthy. I can now enjoy a beer or two on friday nights and a cup of coffee every morning without any ill effects...provided I drink plenty of water, which I always do. Oh and I still smoke half a pack a day! I know that's bad but it really helped me quit drinking...and I had a really bad drinking problem. But now I think I'm going to try and stop smoking and see if it helps me gain any weight.

Well thanks again for all the help everyone. I hope my experiences can now help someone too.... Oh and I think I might change my name to MendedBeauty...hmmm maybe...or maybe I'd better not jynx it....time will tell.....

THANK YOU!@#!#@&!@#$#@#@!@!!$@#$#%

Congratulations on your success. I'm glad to hear the combination of treatments has been working for you. I too have experienced some success using Barney's Formula and Protopic (similar to Elidel). I'm currently on 6000iu of D3 and have doubled everything else on the forumula to see if I can get some clearing.
I'm glad that someone is able to stick to a strict diet. I'm currently on a strict diet, but not for P, it sure is tough to stick to. I don't think I could do the veggie diet though, I'm not a huge fan of veggies and I hate all seafood.

Good luck to you.

Wow! That's so inspiring! Congratulations, and good for you! You made some HUGE life changes really quickly. Good luck with the smoking - I bet you can stop once you put your mind to it -- you obviously are good at self control!

My regimen is so close to your's that I'm going to make some adjustments based on your experience.

The thing about coconut oil is that I find I get it on my clothes. Any tips on how you deal with that?

Cheers, and again, congrats!

Why Coconut Oil, I thought Olive Oil is good for P

Coconut oil is acidic and helps restore the body's acid mantle. Which is apparently pretty important for P and good health in general...Acidic outside, Alkaline inside... Not sure if olive oil is acidic but it makes me break out (acne) if i put it on my skin, esp on the face...I do eat/drink tons of it though. Lots of garlic too....

As for the coconut oil getting on my clothes, I usually dab some of the oil off after I let it soak in for a lil bit and then get dressed. It also probably helps that I wear almost all black most of the time.

Something else that seems to be helping too is pomagranite juice. I've been drinking it since sunday after reading about it here and I must say I have definitely noticed some improvements. I've actually slowed my pharms down and am still getting better.

How did you arrive at these dosages? Is it all just trial and experiment? I'm on a minimal BF but have also tried the full monty BF and never saw 2 ibus, 4000IU of VitD, or the goldenseal and tumeric.

When I first went minimal BF, I experienced incredible clearing but now after 6 months on it I've got it all over -- hands, knees, middle, scalp, ears. Some have recommended Clobex which I have (never used), but I've read about too many people getting dependent on steriods and having major flareups when getting off, so I'm looking for another answer.

The whole trial and experiment factor of all this is difficult for me. I don't know if I should stay on a particular set of meds / dosage for a few days, a week, a few weeks, a few months ...

BTW, I've also used apple cider vineger and I've applied corn oil which also helps the flakes. When I started BF and had the great results, I'd been taking corn oil 2x a day for a month and I wonder if that was actually the reason I had been free of P for a while. But it hardly seems like a 'cure' if you have to spend the rest of your life drinking 2T of corn oil every day ...

I don't expect a "cure". If I found a regimen that kept P at bay, that wasn't too expensive or invasive, I'd be very happy!

Nice post, keep up the good work SB. (I doubt if you are shattered.)

Re: Oil spots

Try a drop or 2 of dish soap on the oil spots, or presoak the fabric in diluted dish soap water.

Or put a terry cloth bathrobe on after you oil up. Let something else absorb the extra oil. Cloth diapers used to come in so handy.

Oh...the things we put up with!

I am VERY happy.

I have been totally 100% clear for ages now, longest time ever.

I now follow a mainly raw vegan diet (no animal flesh and no dairy) and seriously limit my intake of processed flour (bread, cakes, pasta) and refined sugars. I drink lots of fresh home-made vegetable juice every day.

I have been following this lifestyle for eleven months now. It took a while to detox but once I had detoxed the worst of the toxic substances I had built and stored over the years, the rapid healing started in earnest.

Here is an extract from an interview:

“Vegan diets have been shown to be extremely helpful in psoriasis, which brings to mind the question as to whether there's some sort of reaction specifically to meat. We don't really know, but they've done experiments, certainly, on vegans, that have shown that they have far less incidence of psoriasis. Even people who were psoriatic before becoming vegan had resolution of their symptoms. Also, there was a study done on World War II POWs. They had incredibly dramatic remission rates when they were prisoners of war, and their symptoms returned when they came home and changed their diet. Simply because when they were prisoners of war, they had simple basic, no meat diets, and they had increased sunlight exposure, which are both extremely good for psoriasis”

I have taken vegan one step further by following a raw vegan lifestyle.

Maybe this is not for everyone and it has its challenges but if you are serious (or desperate) enough (especially if you have really bad P) it is a great healthy lifestyle to follow, with plenty of other health benefits.

Since being clear I rarely post here nowadays, so if anyone has questions please send me a PM.

Good luck to everyone.
