Hi,

My son is 11 and has had psoriasis since he was 5. He's really a mess with it and complains of the normal burn and itch. Recently someone told me that if you take fish oil vitamins that it will help it. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it for their psoriasis? With all the creams and ointments that he's been prescribed, nothing is helping. He has it on his nails, scalp, knees, elbows, under his neck, on his eyes, in his ears and ankles. I just don't know what to do for him and we don't have the the most helpful dermotologist. Any information anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Jennifer

Hello Jennifer
Welcome. My daugther Jessica who is 6 has P. She was diagnosed in November. She has been 95% and is now 45% due to UVB treatments. I think maybe you should look into this. No meds worked for Jessie, we have tried everything. Then her derm told us about UVB treatments. She goes twice a week now but was going three times a week. I have heard about fish oil vitamins but Jessie was taking them before her p and they did not help after. A few things we have done for itching is oatmeal baths from Aveeno and Aveeno moisturizer. For her scalp we are using Tea Tree Shampoo by Paul Mitchell and some times we do use Derma-smoothe med. If you are having problems with your derm try finding another one that you can trust. I think we got lucky with Jessies. He agrees to everything that I ask him to try. I am on this board every day and every time I say to the derm, I heard about using _____ on Jessie what do you think? He would tell us what he thinks and if he agrees he will perscribe it. So if you live in a town that has more than one derm try and find a new one that you can trust. If you need to know more about UVB I will be here later today and the rest of the week.

I've been taking fish oil for over a year now and have NOT noticed an improvement in my Psoriasis.
