There has been several questions posted here lately about MTX.
I am not sure how you all do it, but I was told the following.
(I am on the MTX shots)
I was told to take the Folic Acid every day except the day of the shot.
Then the day after not to take Folic Acid, but to take a Leukivorin<--ms
Is this the way you do it?

Thanks,

I take MTX pill form and my doctor told me to take Folic Acid every day that I did not take the MTX--which is six days a week out of the seven.

I am not taking anything with the MTX I need to ask my Dr about that, I hear it fights the tiredness. But doesn't somehow make the meds less potent so to speak? I mean the whole idea is to knock your immune system on the butt, rather than strengthening it.

If you are on MTX, you should be taking Folic Acid.
Give your Dr. a call now!!!

I was told to take 4 mcg of folic acid every day - that's the amount that's in a B-12 vitamin pill. I was told that MTX inhibits the absorption of folic acid in the body, and by taking supplements you reduce the nausea side effects.

I take MTX by injection.

I've seen recommendations for folic acid as high as 5 mg, and I'm guessing it depends on the dose of MTX.

Hello, Dont mean to change the subject, But i have never used any kind of injection before, ever, Is there good results in this MTX.. How much better is this method compared to steriod creams? Once you are clear how long does it last before you have another breakout? 2 weeks, 1 month, just curious, if theres better options out there... Creams work for me but i seriously would perfer to take injections or pills over the cream and ointment method... Absolutely tired of applying this stuff...
Take Care... Hvnly...

I am on the MTX for Psoriatic Arthritis (PA). But the MTX cleared my P up with in 6 weeks. I have been on it for over a year now.
I am also on Enbrel now, 10 weeks. I hear it does wonders for P also.
Thanks,

I have tried MTX in past years but I was given to much at one time. You see, my derm send the amount that I was to take but the parmacy printed the bottle wrong; therfore, I got an overdose. The MTX was taken in pill form. To make a long story short, I was put into the hospital due to a bad liver that begain to close down.

I did clear but only for a very short time. All you MTX users, please work closely with your doctor while on MTX as I would hate to hear of anyone alse go though this...
