I am so glad I found this group...I am just overflowing with questions! LOL

My fiancee has Pustular Psor...(Thats my diagnosis, he has about 15 different diagnoseses from doc's ranging from excema to psor...)

Anyways, What are the symptoms of the arthritus associated with psor?

Do you think it would be benificial to get him on glucosomine before this develops? (I wonder if glucosomine only works on certain types of arth though??)

Hi,

I only heard yesterday that glucosamine only works on osteoarthritis. I was in fact going to try it for my psoriatic arthritis but my rheumatologist told me that it wouldn't do anything.

Hope this helps.

See ya.

First, as you may have just read, glucosamine sulfate has not been tested or proven in PA, although there will always be a small percentage of people who will respond well just from that famous placebo effect. The stuff is not cheap and to give it a fair trial takes at least 3 or 4 months, so it would probably be a waste, but on the other hand, it shouldn't hurt anything.

Personally I do not use it; we all have to make our own decisions on these things. If you may have some osteoarthritis (OA) in addition to your PA, it is possible the glucosamine would help that, but who knows.

As to symptoms, here is a link to more detailed information on PA: http://www.arthritis.co.za/psoriasis.html/

The important thing is that you are being treated by a rheumatologist. Keep on posting if you have any more questions and I'm sure there will be many who jump in to help.

PA has many forms. Get and read the info that this site provides. It is as good as it gets.

First get to a Rheumatologist.
Psoriatic Arthritis (PA) is an Autoimmune desease.
If you try any herbal stuff, make sure it DOES NOT boost the immune system.
This will only make the PA worse!!!!
PA not only attacks the joints, but the tendons also. This is why you may experience some shooting pains. For instance I have pains that shoot from my hip to my knee, knee to ankle etc... This is also true from the Shoulder to the elbow, elbow to wrist etc...
I hope you have good insurance. If the PA begins getting real bad, the drugs involved can get expensive.
I am on:
Azulfidine - 1500 mg daily
Prednisone - 10 mg daily
Some other huge pill daily :-)
Folic Acid - 1 mg daily
Methotrexate - .10 (injection) 1 per week
Enbrel - 2 injections weekly
Plus:
Lipitor - 20 mg daily High Colesterol
Cardiazem - 120 mg daily High Blood Pressure

All this, and I just turned 40 last week :-(
Do alot of reading, and join <groups.yahoo.com/psoriaticarthritis>
Thsi is a great group, and will answer any and all of you questions.
