Hi all. I have posted in many places about my son Ian. I am looking for other parents of little ones with P. So far I have had no luck! For the record, again, Ian is 14 months old. He was diagnosed with P at 4 months of age. His is mild to moderate. He does have places that can get very "weepy" though. He is also asthmatic and has food allergies.

Hi,
It's been a while since I've written to you but my daughter Lillian was born with Psor. and is now 2 1/2yrs. She has a rare case that has affected her mouth and eosphagus so with all the medications she has been on her skin has been quite good this past year. I think this is a very different age to deal with the P., they don't know any different so I think the emotional part of it is more on us right now. Lillian just started on a new medication called Prograf, it is similar to Cyclosporine but without some of the side effects. Among the bad things with this med. is she has to have bloodwork weekly to moniter her liver and kidneys, and she has learned to yell "GO AWAY" at the top of her lungs but as soon as it is over she asks them for a sticker and she's smiling again. They are such troopers, if only a sticker would make everything alright for us hey! E-mail me anytime. I would love to hear from you.

Shana, That is wonderful news! I am so glad to hear that Lillian is doing so well. I can just see this little 2 1/2 yr old yelling at the doctor's. Ian has a recheck at our derms on Monday. He is very broken out, for him, and I just can not seem to get it back under control. I also want to see if Ian's asthma and meds could be making things worse. I will post an update on Monday.

Hi Carrie,

I was glad to see your post. I have a daughter that was diagnosed with p just this week. Ella is six months old. I am trying to find out all the information I can. She has it on her scalp, face, arms (really bad on one arm), stomach and back. She has had A LOT of ear infections and the derm seems to think that this may have triggered it.

Does your son cry? try to scratch it? did he seem bothered by it when he was very young?

Any thing you could provide me would be helpful.

Amy

Hi Amy,
Sorry to hear that your little Ella has p. so bad right now. When Lillian was that age to help with the scratching we made her little velvet mittens and that way when she rubbed it was very soft. Also Hydroxyzine syrup is what I still give her to relieve the itching. She gets it every night before bed and every now and then I won't give it just to see if she can do without but then we are up all night itching. Sometimes she gets a dose during the day but she does well without it most of the time. On the subject of ears it might be the other way around. Lillian's ear canals started getting affected by the p. when she was about 3mo old and they would get so inflamed that at times they would be swollen shut. The thing that we found that worked the best was Tobradex drops which are actually eye drops but eye drops don't have a lot of the extra ingredients that ear drops do so we were told. Hope this helps a little bit. Good Luck.
Take Care,
Shana
