I've seen a lot of people talking about the pain of PA. Before I got on MTX and plaquenil for PA, I spent a couple of weeks in bed with what was diagnosed as hip bursitis - as it turns out, I have those calcifications at the insertion points on both hips.
Anyhoo - I found a sports massage therapist (not a spa masseuse) who does deep tissue massage, and got rid of the pain. Now, when I feel it coming back at all, I go and get worked over. - maybe once a month at most. He always finds places I wouldn't even have known were bothering me, and I get relief for really long periods of time.
I used to think massage was a treat - now I think of it as cheap medicine that WORKS!
