Ever since my kids (3 and 5) had their skin problems I've been told that I could try changing their diet. I'm just wondering if anyone here have gone to an allergist and have had success w/ one? Is P like eczema that can be triggered by food and clears when that food is avoided? What's everyone's experience with this? I've been trying to not give jeremy too much suger (little juice, no candies) and wheat and I feel that he's doing better ever since I've been vigilent about his food intake. Once in a while i'll go easy on him at a party or something and the next day i'll see his afflicted areas getting more red than the previous day.
Any thoughts??

There's one school of thought that says that certain foods trigger psoriasis. Some people say that people with p should avoid vegetables from the nightshade family. The nightshade family includes tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, and white potatoes. Other people say that we should avoid Candida (yeast).

A couple of weeks ago, there was very informative thread about alternative treatments for psoriasis. Several people who participated in that discussion mentioned that their psoriasis flairs if they eat certain foods. Here's a link to the thread.

Just my $0.02.

Hope this helps.

Okay here is my 2 cents. My son, Ian, is almost 16 months old. He has P, food allergies and asthma. For him, when he gets ahold of milk, or items containing milk or milk proteins his P gets worse (along with a few other things). His P also gets worse when his asthma is flaring.

now, i've suspected that food is directly linked to his skin problem, but some other people also tell me to keep a balanced diet to prevent other problems. I haven't really given jeremy any milk for over 6 months, and some are worred that he'll have growth problems. what do all think about a "balanced diet" when it comes to p patients?
i also would like to know how to find out what his allergies are. For example, if a given food worsens his condition, when does it occur? immediately, w/in a day, or w/in a longer period? what are your experiences?

Hello! How are you doing? We are doing good. Jessie is getting a few spots here and there but that is all. I would go and look at the thread that Mike said to go to. We have been discussing this for awhile. Jessie does not seem to have any problems with diet. We do eat extremely healthy, No fast food, Very little red meat (unless my husband kills it), vitamins everyday, otherwise she eats everything. I did read a book about Winning the War against Allergies and the Immune System which talks about how problems with the Immune system can be directly related to Allergies. So far all Jessie's allergies are outdoor things. She is really bad right now with swelling eyes, and running nose but food has not been a problem. I guess I should thank God for that, my husband is a gormet cook. I personally have allergies to any type of nuts and my reactions are the minute the nuts hit my system. I have to be careful what I eat by asking if anything is cooked in Peanut Oil or other nut oil. Well I better get back to work. I hope I helped.
Talk to you soon
