I am planning to talk to my rheumatologist this month when my checkup is due. My prescription insurance usually pays 40% of the cost. Can anyone tell me about what a twelve week regimen will cost?

Lee:

I am so sorry to be the first to tell you this....BUT...My pharmacy says it's $1,200 per month for the 25mg. dose, twice a week.

My insurance had to hear from my doc b/4 they would pay, but I only have to pay $20 a month. Otherwise, I, In NO WAY could pay for it...not even at 40%.

I wish you the best of luck regarding this.

Jill

I agree with PJ.
Try to find somewhere that will help you pay for it.
But get on it.

When I was using Enbrel, My insurance paid all but my co-pay, then $15.00. When it was time for a refill I just had to call the insurance co. and tell them.

Hope all goes will for you.

I am currently on Enbrel and just logged onto my insurance's web page to check the cost. According to them it is $1600 a month (and some change).
My insurance covers 100% of it, but not through their prescription plan. It is covered "medically". Don't know how that works - but I do not even pay a co-pay.

Thanks to all of you that discussed the price of Enbrel. I was very discouraged until I went for my checkup. My knee was really giving me some trouble but my doctor came through. He suggested that I start Remicade treatments that would be paid through Medicare. I have had two I.V.'s and am very pleased with the results. My psoriasis has really improved and I am having some improvement with the arthiritis. I take my next I.V. Feb. 17th. I hope that when spring finally gets here I'll be able to enjoy it this year without all the "cover-up." When you're doing well it really makes a difference in the way you feel mentally as well as physically.
