Welcome to the board Barbi!! I see you are new to our wonderful community here. I'm 27 years old and developed p when I was 15. I have a great derm here in miami, but I rely mostly on educating myself on treatments and then discuss what I've learned with my Derm. You should encourage your daughter to post in our General discussion board. This way she will truly know that she is not alone. The people here give great support and advice. I think we all feel like close friends eventhough most of us have never met. The the Youth and Teens discussion board is has people closer to your daughters age, but is less active than the General Discussion. The scalp for women can be very hard to treat because of long the long hair factor. I'm a male with very short hair so my scalp is easily treated with coal tar shampoo alone. Depending on how extensive your daughters coverage is UVB or PUVA (ultraviolet) therapy may be the best for her and she'll have a great tan to show off  .

:) thanks so much for the greeting.....my role as mom has been to find the most trusted info for her and relay....I also have another child who lives with P...he is 23 and doesn't really give too hoots about his skin, and has chosen to do nothing other than sun in the summer. His attitude has been "take me or leave me....if you can't handle my psoriasis, than you don't belong in my circle of friends."
Now my daugheter is another case....15 and very very self conscious. She just lost a modeling contract as her psoriasis broke out this year. I am encouraging her to post, but she isn't ready yet. So we are working on accepting and dealing with life's hand. I am glad to find so many people are working well every day to live life on life's terms....which stinks sometimes yes, but gives some of us healthier and stronger perspectives on what is reallly important.........
So I continue to help her find a regiment that works for her and mediates the stress and self consciousness. Thanks again all....

15 is a tough age to get it, that's when I first discovered the wonderful world of psoriasis. It affected me physically, emotionally and socially. I still to this day (12 years later) don't like to talk about it except on this board, but I don't let it ruin my life anymore. I'm currently trying to clear my skin with strong topicals and then hopefully will use tanning as a maintenance plan (cross fingers). Good luck to you and your daughter and hopefully modeling will work out in the end!! Just let us know which catalogue, magazine, or comercial she will be staring in!!!
