I read an article in the local paper about a woman who took the spice turmeric to help her psoriasis. she put a heaping teaspoonfull on her cereal every morning and her P. started clearing in ten days. she was totally clear in five months. I ran to my local grocery store and bought some. It is the most awful tasting stuff when you try to eat that much. I called the local health food store and I was so surprised to find they sell it in capsule form. My son has had gutate P. for two years and we are using all the creams , lotions and shampoos that I'm sure you all have used with only mild success. Last winter we were going for light therapy three times a week. I gave him one capsule a day and in one week it looked like it was starting to work.. on day sixteen I gave him a real good look over and do you believe it was almost all gone! His scalp still looked pretty nasty so i started giving him two a day. about two weeks later his scalp looks wonderful. I know it sounds too good to be true. I researched turmeric on the internet and found that this spice is an antioxidant and is being used and researched for treatment of so many things like cancer. arthritis, MS, bowel porobems and on and on. The one thing it didnt mention was P. Its worth a try. Be patient though. It seems like my sons cleared a little faster than the lady in the article. I bought 100 capsules for 11.00. Good luck!

The turmeric capsules have 300 mgs of Turmeric extract and 100 mgs of turmeric(curcuma longa). I am going to go back to one a day and see if my sons scalp stays clear.

Doesn't Turmeric stain something awful? What do you do about the stains it produces? I've cooked with Turmeric and had to throw a bunch of dishtowels out that got the coloring in it.

On a lighter note, I've got a good recipe for some middle eastern mushrooms with Turmeric. Get healthy and eat something tasty too :)

It's funny I never thought of this! My mom used to cook with Turmeric all the time and I only had one instance of P. Living away from home, I don't eat the same way as I used to. Maybe this means something. :) I guess it looks like I'm going to have to try this.

Regarding the question about turmeric staining, My son takes it in capsule form so there is no loose spice to get on anything.
