Well, the official ruling came yesterday that my insurance won't approve the use of Enbrel for me. I have had P for 30 yrs and only have pa in one finger joint. Needless to say, the insurance co. won't approve it for my p and say the pa isn't bad enough to warrant using the Enbrel. I suppose I could fight them, but I have done this before when my son had some warts removed off his feet and after a 3 month battle, I still lost and had to pay the bill. My alternative now is to see if they would approve Amevive, but I am more leary of that course of treatment than I was with the Embrel. The only thing that seems to keep things under semi-control has been Temovate ointment and I have been using it for years. Regretfully, now my skin is thinning out and need to find an alternative. I was hoping that once I got into a new program of treatment, my skin would thicken back up to normal. Any advice?

I'm sorry to hear about your insurance denial.....................I wonder why they call it "insure" ance?????
Best of luck...........I say fight and go for what YOUR needs and wants are.

The Amevive is FDA approved and might be the better choice. Enbrel isn't the miracle drug, and it seems like many people have had some serious side effects. Perhaps Amevive is something to consider.

My advice would be to "get PA;) ;)"
Do what you need to do to get what you deserve and pay for.

Thanks for the support guys! I will be talking to my derm next week and see about the Amevive.
Steve.....I think I will pass on the PA for now. That may come soon enough and by the sounds of people on the threads, it is very painful.
Will keep you posted on what happens
