Hi Duces,
I don't suppose the noni fruit is sold at Albertson's. How does one procure noni juice? Please educate us as to what a noni fruit is. At least one other member here is having success with noni juice. -kiki

Hi Duces,
I don't think that we've met, so Welcome to the Board.
This is a great place to exchange information and ask questions or to vent or even to have a good laugh or too.
I'm glad to hear about you success using Noni Juice. I notice that you're from the Bahamas. Can you buy Noni Juice in your local market? I don't think that I've seen it in the stores here in New Jersey? Sally, where do you get yours from? I just did a quick search and came up with several sites that offer it for sale. The only problem is, I'm always very reluctant to buy anything off some unknown internet site. If would be great if you or someone else could recommend a reliable source for those people who'd like to try it. Thanks in advance.
Good luck. Keep us posted and please don't be a stranger.

Hi Duces,
Welcome to the board!! Lots of neat people post here, as you can already see. The noni juice has been discussed a bit recently, and others have reported good results.
As Mike said, it would be helpful to know where others might find a good reliable source in case they are interested. Also, some idea of the cost might be helpful too so as to know what is fair.
The more information you and Sally can post here, the more helpful it can be to others.
Hope to hear more good news from you soon.

;) hi again to all yes in reference to the noni juice it can be bought through the internet price varies, it has been a month now and no relapse. I had not worn short pants in 15 yrs. and it was fun again to show these chicken legs, if u are going to buy it from the bottle it is best to get the pure noni and not the pre-mix ones that is the ones already mixed with juices. It has a very bad taste and smell but it is good for u. The one good thing i like about it no more scartching flakes and sweeping . God is good . Thanks for the invit. glad to be here hope i can impart the little knowledge i have to be of some kind of help. Only us know what it is like be good take care.

Duce/GetOverIt, Good to know that you're seeing good results from Noni Juice. How long before you saw any improvement because of this? Are you combining Noni Juice with any other treatment? Is this available in any stores other than than Internet? Hope you see continued improvement and have healthier lives.

i don't know exactly where u can get it outside of the internet, u can probably try the local convenience stores or supermarkets . The first time I drank a cup full and the other times 5 tea spoons but if u can get hold of the fruit u can also plant the seeds . It is the lastest rave over here so far we have had results in p: cancer, sinus and other skin conditions. There is a company in tahiti which u can order through the internet which seems to be the purest right now.

I have been talking about noni juice for months....I also gave some sites.....(when I went to aol 9 I lost some urls so don't have the sites at my fingertips) but I did research it on google.com and avoided the online storefronts as much as possible except to read what they had to say about noni (scientifically by biochemists etc) most of the places are too expensive...(plus there is a BIG company that is a pyramid outfit and I tend to stay away from them cause they are into selling their product and I was looking more for unbiased answers) one of our other interested members also researched it and found it less expensive from the Hawaiian farmers listed on ebay ($ 7.00 +shipping) ......I found the prices going from $20 something on up...whewwww too rich for me....and then I found a site that sold it for a little under $20 shipping free so I ordered a couple bottles ...found it wonderful/terrible the taste is what was BAD but as someone said above (gail) taste is temporary....when I discovered that it was working I decided to try ebay for a better price as I could see this was going to be an on-going thing......I also ordered the book by Dr Neil Solomon m.d., ph.d (John Hopkins trained physician...and faculty...Maryland's first sec. of Health and Mental Hygyiene....etc )
"THE NONI PHENOMENON" He interviewed over 10,000 people who used Noni juice for this book $14.95 amazon.com
"NATURE'S AMAZING HEALER.............NONI" (a 2,000 year old tropical secret that helps the body heal itself)....$7.95 amazon.com
He also has a web site......
below are part 2 and 3 of an article I just happened to find interesting .....the third url is from the dr. that did the studies on NONI.....
http://www.pasha-gourmet.com/GHC/HTML/peter_articles/2003_articles/NONI%20JUICE%20part2.htm
http://www.pasha-gourmet.com/GHC/HTML/peter_articles/2003_articles/NONI%20JUICE%20(3).htm
http://www.iwr.com/noni-juice/xeronine.htm............... this is from a bio-chemist ( I think thats what his dr. means)
If you click on my PROFILE up comes the page listings...in the upper right hand corner it gives all my respones and so on ....I have told in lots of the threads what Noni is and has been doing for me....what its healing and so forth (I dislike repeating so much )
If you"ve never been to ebay just go..... by adding in the url address line www.ebay.com and then in the SEARCH window put in "noni juice"
I found it from the farmers for $7.00 plus shipping and shipping was as much as the bottle ...but it was still cheaper than the other sites... I usually get 4 bottles at a time easier on the budget..... my first order was 2 'til I saw what it could do.
I take it like the doc says first thing in the am. on empty stomach about 2 ozs (I keep it refridgerated also)
then again at night...but they tell you in the books what, where and how.......I'll tell you one thing...I sleep like a baby...deep and well rested....and lots of energy
I don't remember any restrictions on food or drink (now that should make some of you-all happy)
always get the 100% noni.....good luck to all of you deciding to take the plunge.....and let us know the results......
oops I almost forgot...some of the "testamonials I read also mentioned the use of noni right on the skin....it is too juicy for me to do that so I add it to my homemade lotion, where it is easier to apply without it dripping all over......I treat it like GOLD ha ha

Hey!!! just a thought but maybe your shipping would be cheaper than mine...making it a lot less expensive for you

I'm wondering now if a noni tree would grow in my backyard. I live in no. CA.I bet someone at UC Berkeley would know! I'd be very surprised if someone in their botany or agriculture departments didn't know the answer to that question. You also might want to try the California Department of Agriculture or your local County Extension Service. (I just did a quick search for County Extension Services California and came up with one for Stanislaus County. It's affilated with UC Davis. Here's a link: http://cestanislaus.ucdavis.edu/) There's probably something similar for your county. Give them a call (or send them an e-mail). What have you got to lose?

I would try the local universities like Mike suggested also maybe your county extension services...in the meantime I found some seeds and a place that tells how to grow them
http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/ctahr2001/commodities/noni/horticulture_production.asp#top
http://www.seedman.com/medicine.htm
seeds are $3.95 for 10
and seedman also said they could be grown inside in a warm room with plenty of light.
I'm afraid winter doesn't offer much light but maybe a "grow lamp"
would work....
I don't know...I seem to have a black thumb when it comes to nurturing plants...but I think I'll give it a try

It doesn't have to be like this. Sally and Chaim have two different opinions. I think it is important that people know both sides of the story of anything that they put into their body. It is important that people get well rounded information from all sides so that they can make a well informed decision. Why we are attacking Enbrel on the Noni thread is beyond me and a bit insulting as someone who uses Enbrel. The place to post your negative side effects would be on an Enbrel thread and I am sure they would be welcomed there from people who want the whole picture on that treatment.
Can we all grow up a little here!
If you think that the answer to all this BS is to get a new forum, more power too you. Go for it. I don’t see how it will make one bit of difference. The garbage from over here will now go over there until people can act like the responsible adults they are.

as far as attacking enbrel.........I did no more than point out the site for side effects of drugs (as opposed to any natural means)...which I'm sure anyone in their own interests would do before taking an unknown drug or herb, vitamin, or other treatment.....I said from the beginning that I researched to my satisfaction, what I wanted to know about noni......
as far as posting on an enbrel thread....what good would that do when answering a post on this thread....doesn't make sense......

I am getting so frustrated with the tone on this board. I love to be here and chat with other people, however, it seems TO ME - people have become very closed minded & indignant their choice is the right one.
I have little to no belief in natural to cure my p or more that I personally do not have the time to try out a "natural" source for treatment alone. I do believe in Sea Salt to work with my prescriptions to enhance my treatment, but not resolve the issue. I am way to busy to go through the bad times of not using my prescriptions to wait for the natural ones to become effective. Do I wonder why my steroid will kick a flare right in the rear in 2 weeks? Yeah, but you know it allows me to function in my day-to-day life, allowing me to be a productive person in life. However the demands of modern medicine don't always fit into my life either.... My scalp is taking awhile to get back under control because I cannot (read "will not") go out in public with olux on my hair. I am not that confident of a person.... However, having people see my p does not bother me nearly as bad because I have done my hair and my make-up to make me feel confident.
I am interested in learning about the natural treatments to enhance my prescriptions & I am glad Chaim posted the Noni warning, as this was a thread raving about the good things. It is important, for those of us to lazy (Myself included) to investigate it ourselves, that the "flip side" of the coin is also included to put things into perspective. I am really sorry Sally, but I agree with Steve & that the warnings you posted are really out of place on this thread. What would have been more productive would have been to post a thread with FDA or some other respected Federal or Medical system backing up the good things in Noni. I also agree your thread warnings about Enbrel and Other prescription p drugs, such as Dovonex, are great threads, but would have been better placed on a Dovonex or Enbrel or Ultravate thread. This way you are educating the users of the medicine instead of seeming spiteful to the outside reader. We all have read how frustrated you are.... Well some of us are too...
But hind sight is always 20/20.
This is a group board and we need to all be able to read each other's threads. We all agree knowledge is power, that means we learn the good and the bad of all treatments. And accept those warnings with a grain of salt.

Sally-
Where to start?
Everyone has the right to read and reply to any post on this website. Do you plan on not opening your new forum to all? I don't care where the threads are. If they are in here or in a new forum and they are of interest, I will post regardless of a positive or negative response. I am sure others will too.
Why are Enbrel side effects relevant to this thread? If you want to discuss your views on it there are plenty of Enbrel threads or you have the option of starting your own.
You have sour grapes over someone making a point that differs from yours. I don't think that it has a thing to do with Chaim's ego. Just because there is a different view does not make you a target. I think that is pretty silly.
I also have no issues with Enbrel side effects. I am quite confident in my treatment choices as I can tell you are with yours. That is a pretty cheap shot for you to take in my opinion.
Also, the grow up was too all, not just you. However....
I have posted in both directions on posts that you have started or responded too. So why you view me as the enemy is beyond me.
I posted that message because I am sick of the childish bickering. I have become pretty active in these boards and do not want to see their value deteriorated and that is what is happening in my view.
Some people may think that some of my postings like this one are a bit aggressive, but I call it as I see it. That’s just me. Take it or leave it.

1) The so called traditional medications and treatment methods have POTENTIAL side effects. (It does no one any good to deny that these POTENTIAL side effects exist.)
2) The so called alernative treatment methods have POTENTIAL side effects. (It does no one any good to deny that these POTENTIAL side effects exist.)
3) It's important that EVERYONE know the POTENTIAL side effects of any treatment option that they are considering. The only way to learn about these POTENTIAL side effects is to discuss them openly on the board. That way we can all make FULLY INFORMED decisions about our treatment options.

To get started... Let me be the first to welcome you!
Now... if I may add a word of advice.... Read through a thread before you reply. If you had read through it, you would see some of our posters ARE getting relief & attributing it to Noni. While we all admit Noni is not a CURE, it is being tested to be an effective treatment for those that do not wish to use traditional methods. The problem with p is what may work wonders for one person may cause a flare in another.
However, I must admit that was pretty interesting reading and thank you for posting the link. Just next time, add some sugar to the post. ;)
Chaim,
Thanks for posting the link to that general website, which I had not seen at all. (I have no opinion on Noni juice.) The general drug interraction feature is useful.

Sorry Allie.
I have an MBA in marketing and work as the marketing director for a company who, in the past has marketed products similar to Noni. If I was to mention the products you would recognize them I'm sure. The idea is that companies get products that have some historical basis, but are not yet on the market, and then get them patented for wholesale/retail sale. The product is then marketed and sold some times through MLM and other times through regular retail. The products make tons of money, but never have any scientific basis. I know the company that markets Noni and if it helps I would rack it up as a placebo effect more than anything else. I guess I could get speared for writing this as a nay sayer, but I know first hand. I've had psoriasis for 28 years and some natural products help so I'm not opposed to the search for a better method, but I know the background behind Noni, oregon grape, and many others.
Allie

RollyPolly - I too am sorry if I came down on you a little quick. You def. know your stuff & have the background to back up what you say. HOWEVER, lately there have been some tension related to alternative medicine. I was only trying to keep you from being tarred and fethered by those who have found some relief. :)
I personally have no opinion on Noni because I have never tried it.
I will also say that in '98 I would have sworn by powder formula Slim Fast to put me into remission. Today, I use it and it does little more than add pounds to my scale. My derm. told me then that I was insane and it was more likely my remission was due to lack of stress and frequent tanning. 6 Months out of college, still drinking the Slim Fast daily & tanning 1x a week, I started breaking out & slowly but surely it all came back & then some. Now I am of the belief, I probably went into spontaneous remission..... The problem with p is we never know what worked, and what works today may not work tomorrow.
Again, welcome to the board!! With your knowledge I look forward to chatting with you often

I just read rollypolly's link to a "health expert's" assessment of noni fruit/juice. She says it's snake oil, and to sum up, pretty devoid of nutritional merit. So I thought I'd see what her credentials are, and can you believe she lists not one (other than living in NYC which might pass as a credential).
So, lets balance this out. Can someone provide a link which provides some scientific merit to Noni, or point one out if I missed it? -kiki

I just read that forum also, but i cant help to mention.. I wonder if the Bella health expert online also has psoriasis, bet you 10 to 1 she dont.. and if she did and this juice worked for her the way it worked for others she would think twice about posting that forum.. Maybe theres not much of a nutritional value in this Noni Juice, but on the other hand i know alot of methods to treat the skin, and not all of them are good for you but yet they work "go figure" sugar water huh ~Smiles~ well maybe thats what we need.. Sally if this Noni Juice works for you stick with it, "good for you" if nobody else wants to give it try thats fine also.. but keep us posted on your results for the people that are interested in this mystery fruit:D Take Care, Hvnly

GitOverIt

Havent noticed any side effects but it sure has a blech!! taste.
I've never had bad wine but its the only thing I can think of in comparing taste.....
I suppose any side effects would be the same as eating any fruit.........which I'm not sure what that would be. It is just a fruit and now through research they are finding out a lot of benefits from various berries etc.
but you know what they say ..you have to try it for yourself to know how YOU react...
I'll send some sites if I can find any on side effects....
http://www.noniland.com/ this is a site by promoters...one of the pyramid groups...that I dont buy from... but they seem to have a movie out about Noni juice...can't imagine....but whatever...should be interesting to see
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2003/7/prweb72365.htm this site mentions NO SIDE EFFECTS
http://www.cookislands-noni.com/ this is just some interesting reading from dr. Stamler prof. of medicine at Duke U. (he takes Noni)
anyway like I've said before I get mine from the farmers of Hawaii on ebay............
I'll tell you one thing Noni has been my proof.....I get up every morning and take my first dose...you have to take it on an empty stomach for full absorbtion....lately I started taking a dose before bed....(I like to start slow and build to see if there are side effects)
I sleep the sleep of a newborn.....very deep restful sleep.....I didnt know that was one of the benefits til I read it....so hope I answered your question... its best to get a book on Noni if you are going to take it ...I went to amazon . com and searched on NONI and got a couple by dr. Neil Solomon (John Hopkins hosp.)

Being a native New Yorker I'm very skeptical of buying things over the internet. I do use Ebay at times, but I wouldn't feel comfortable buying something to drink or eat off of there (just my opinion).

usually maybe often the same brands you see in the health food stores are the same as ebay....................I buy from the Hawaiian farmers and am on second order..(first order was 4 bottle..second is 12 bottles) the more you buy at any one time the cheaper it is for the juice and shipping...they also have a web site.

I did not have any side effects from the noni juice ...no tummy upsets or boils....I imagine that would be toxins leaving the system........

I checked out GNC yesterday, and they do carry pur noni juice. I am currently on my 3rd week of Amevive, and have had some great results so far. Is it OK to use this juice while on Amevive? What do you all think? I will also ask my derm next time I see him.
P.S. The Juice was $49.00 per bottle. I think it had 24 oz.

for noni...wow! I paid $9.00 each (32oz) for 12 bottles inc. shipping. of course its higher if you only purchase 1 or 2 bottles at a time. but the Hawaiian farmers are much cheaper even then...I think it was around $14.00 when buying single bottles....they are on ebay often. also have a web site.....http://www.healingnoni.com/main.asp

Hey,
I'm new to this site, but when I saw this posting I thought I should respond. I was at Costco about a month ago (in Washington state) and they were giving out samples of noni juice. I can't remember how much it was, and don't know its quality, but just thought I'd share the info.

this is where I get it from...its the cheapest I have found...you must add shipping to the prices they show (they show shipping too somewhere can't remember where) I purchased my first two bottles at another site and paid double even tho the other place included shipping....I started with 2 ozs on an empty stomach............ for me a.m.
went about a month and then added 2 oz. more in the evening or late afternoon before dinner. (thinking my stomach would be pretty empty) I did this to make sure the body adjusted before bombarding it...:D plus i wanted to make my 2 bottles last.
I have had a slow (I want it all right now:p ) ...but steady progress. My husband told me tonight that one of the larger guttates on my back is GONE....it took all this time ...I started the noni juice Aug. 29th....the strange thing is....it goes from place to place getting better....I had the inverse in two spots....one (the largest area) is completely gone now...after years of using Zinc oxide for the pain and bleeding and itching IT IS GONE! but the other inverse is still there....and then the guttates are leaving or shrinking....so it moves to different areas ......
they say this is an unusual disease....and I sure agree with that.
so when I say be patient.....be patient....cause hopefully it will work for you too...if you would get the book and read it , you would understand why....if I were a millionaire, I swear I would buy a book for everyone with P (or at least those that wanted it) you have to understand the principles behind this dumb name of a juice, to fully comprehend what is happening in the healing processes....its very well written too, not to hard to understand.
Good luck and let me and the rest of us know your progress.
This should have been posted in the "alternate" thread so others can read it...maybe Mike will give a link...please?

you better ask your derm about noni juice....I don't know anything about amevive or interactions....but if you are going to ask him , I would go in well prepared with literature to show him what it is....you can do searches on google and look for articles that are informative but not connected to a sellers market place.
