Hi Robin, I received mine through Blue Cross Bllue shield with a perscription from my doctor. I paid a copay of around $100.
If you have the opportunity to research it, you should give it a try. Many compnies won't cover it initially but can be persuaded with assistance from your doctors. If you look furher here in the sight you will see information about the NPF advocacy group. I understand they have been helpful in assiting their members with some of these type things with great success.

I looked into getting one as well and my insurance with cover it after a $100 deductible at 90%...

Just call your insurance company and ask them..

Welcome to the group!

Thanks everyone. That's encouraging. Guess it never hurts to ask questions.

If your ins. covers durable medical devices you should be ok. When I got mine just a few months ago my policy max was $1500 and the narrow band uvb was $2250. I had to pay the difference and the $100 shipping. I have new ins now and the policy has a $2500 max. Wish I had that then, but in the end I am a happy camper for the $1500

Hi,

Steve is right. If your insurance pays for durable medical devices you should be just fine providing that comparable treatment is not easily available. My hubby had his first home treatment yesterday, and we're both excited about the possibilty of an improvement in his current condition.

You will need an Rx from your Dr. and a strong letter of medical necessity. If you need help, just ask. My experience is still pretty fresh.

Good luck!

The copay on mine came to about $200. It beats having to stay late 3 times a week to go to the derm.

I can hardly wait for my derm appointment to ask him about it!!

There a only 2 derms in my area and one is a half hour away and the other is an hour..

It was going to cost me over $50 a week after insurance to go 3 times a week...

The one I went to wanted an office visit co-pay too which was $10 each time...REDICLOUS!

Deb;

Remember to ask your doc about the different models out there. I have a single flat pannel, that works great. A drawback is that I have to do front, then back, turining 3 minutes into 6. With a wife and 4 kids to get out inthe morning, I really wish I had more of a "booth" unit with front & back lights.

Also, I've got p on the outsides of my leg by the ankes. The flans don't get much light on the flat units.

Good luck, although there are some problemes, I am very pleased with the unit I've got.
