View Full Version : Food that aggravates P.
Hi people, it has been mentioned on other posts that some food make p worse, and ive been thinking it might be useful if we had a list of what foods (and drinks) people have found that make their psoriasis worse and also how long it takes for that food to make a change (ie start a flare up)
I have noticed a few things in other posts (and theres probably a lot more i havent found coz im new here) but it would take new years to read though it all (i know i should coz its probably really useful, but im a bit short on time!)
Im sure if my body had the right nutrients and nothing sending it out of balence, it will be able to look after itself!
There were some books mentioned about diet, and i tryed searching for them but couldn't find them, does anyone know the exact titles\authors please?
Oh and also food thats a real good idea to eat?
Thankyou
:)

when I first discovered that I had P....I did some real searching on the subject..............
needless to say the only things I came up with were 'Promises of Nothing' to very negative sites that did more that scared me than disillusioned me.........I found those sites not for me....it was like a "hopeless feeling" I got from them....so I just kept searching til I found Dr. Paganos site ...author of "HEALING PSORIASIS".
also found some other more positive sites....
Pagano says that certain foods are triggers for some....the nightshade family of plants are one such group....potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, green peppers, and tobacco.....potatoes seem to bother me ...but i have cut out all of the above except maybe once a month ...pizza!!!
his regimen is very strict....I took some ideas, discarded others.....and found that lecithin granules really helped...
:D
LOL! ive just started eating more tomatoes coz i thought they were ment to be healthy 4 u!
thanks, i'll have to look into that dr bloke, i'm of to bed now coz im gettin tierd! (after apllying my creams of course!!)
PS. Whats eggplants?

Hi Waco,
I believe you call them aubergines. I just learned today that what we call zucchini, you call courgettes.
I tried modifying my diet a bit according to Pagano but didn't feel it was really helping. My p is the best it's been in months but I can't say it had anything to do with restricting my diet. I have fairly healthy eating habits and take a few supplements which I'd be happy to tell you about. Just wanted to throw the idea out to you that you may need to add something rather than take away.
Some on this board feel that sensitivities or allergies to certain foods is what makes their p flare. They have been tested to find out what foods do that. To me, that makes more sense than cutting out a whole lot of foods that may or may not exacerbate your p. Many posters on this board have expressed how hard it is to stick to a highly restrictive diet.
Let us know what you decide to try. -kiki
Wow, u learn summut new every day! i dont think ive ever eaten them anyway!
I do tend to think diet must play an important part, as my p seems to fluctuate quite a lot, it could be true that suppliments aid ur body in fighting against allergies to other foods, i guess it all works in balance, and removing or adding to quite a few different factors can change that balence for the better or worse, so yes, im just as willing to try other suppliments aswell. there could be something my body is missing in order to deal with psoriasis.
:)

I like yours too. Beats being named after that infamous city in Texas.
I just looked at a a site I subscribe to and there's some recent postings on diet and allergies that may interest you. The link is:

Ed Dewke, one of the posters, has a good website which is identified on the main page of the PsorChat site. -kiki

just thought of one more food that has been a thorn in my side for years....and I get a reaction to it whenever i eat it.........
SUGAR............................bad news for me....and yet its so hard to give up..................it seems that it's in everything....not sure if it's P related...but Pagano's diet does say "stop the sugar!!!!!!"
