Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about Flax Seed.
A woman that I work with says, that it works wonders for p. I'm hesitant to try it (she gave me a bag of the powder).
Has anyone tried it?
Thanks,
Cody

Hi, and welcome to the boards. Although I've heard of flax seed helping for lots of things, I don't have any personal experience. You might check the Alternative Treatments thread, or do a search on flax. Good luck.

Well flax seed is a source of omega 3 and there are some studies that have shown some improvement in p with fish oil, also on healthtalk.com there is some stuff about p and diet that talks about taking fish oil.

Hello, I have taken flax seed meal everyday for about 2 mos. and it just kept me regular. I didn't really notice an improvement in my p but what doesn't work for someone can work for others.
Try it cause you never know!

I tried flax seed in a pill form a few months back. Showed a slight improvement very quickly but then no advance over that. But I would certainly not rule it out as a possibility for others.

You can get flax seed oil in liquid form as you would buy any other digestible oil, such as olive oil or corn oil. Flax seed oil has a nutty taste and can be poured over food like salads. Don't cook your oil, though because that will destroy the EFAs (Essential Fatty Acids) in it.
I buy Spectrum Essentials, organic, cold pressed flax oil in the 24 ounce bottle at the local health food market. It normally sells for about 20 bucks, but I found it on sale recently for 17 dollars. I take a large Tablespoon-3 times a day. I also take a scary amount of vitamins, minerals, herbs and enzymes, but I am carefull not to overdose on any one of them though. Particularly, vitamin A. I keep A under 25,000 mg per day.
