View Full Version : Would Like Updates on Turmeric and PsoriaCap
I've searched the archives and read with interest about the successes of those who took the PsoriaCap supplement, or the spice turmeric. Are y'all still clear--totally, partially? Any side effects? Please update everyone on your progress. Thanks.

Ive been on the Tuermic bandwagon for approx 45 days now, i take 2 (720mg) caps a day in the morning and moisturize all over with aveeno after my shower. Ive been thru every treatment thats out there including efalizumab, study in california and fumaderm, here in Germany. My P has gotten gradually worse and covered me about 80% over the 20 yrs that i have been afflicted. The good news i have to report is the Tumeric has calmed down all my flaring and the real amazing and best part is the incredible itching i have suffered with for so many years causing me grief and misery beyond belief has subsided. I feel like a new person!, and there are no harmful drugs involved. I would be interested in hearing about anyone else having the same positive effect.

I am still free and clear (just like my laundary detergent). It is debatable whether I would have seen a clearing anyway from a sudden and widespread coverage of guttate almost a year ago. Prior to that time I always had p spots here and there and minor scalp p. Now I have no trace of p anywhere, just areas of hypopigmentation. My other change was to omit dairy from the diet (i was already a vegetarian). I still take 200mg turmeric (curcumin) daily as a preventative measure.
A few weeks after starting with turmeric I stopped having small flares which used to occur monthly after my initial outbreak.
Thanks for asking. -kiki

Been taking turmurec for about 2 months; P seems to be fading. I also started taking an antidepressant & cut out red meat so I really can't give all the credit to the spice.
Thanks for the replies. I started taking turmeric not quite a week ago when I read about it here. Figured it's cheap and can't hurt. It's a bit early to tell, but I think it's helping. To be fair, I'm also doing the tanning bed, which helps my body p. However, my scalp p even seems to be better (tanning bed doesn't help that since I can't get the light past the hair). My scalp p is the most consistent p, has been with me for 30+ years, and is at times resistant to even clobetasol; also tazorac doesn't help it. But since beginning turmeric, I feel like the scalp p is at least less angry and inflamed-feeling, it's definitely less itchy.
It's too early to tell, I have to reserve judgment for awhile, but I'm gonna keep on with this for a month or so. I'll keep posting updates as well. Keep 'em coming, y'all.

Hi CJG,
Please do keep us posted. How much are you taking? Capsule or powdered form? My scalp used to get pretty itchy in the winter and this year has been noticably different. Hope you continue to improve. Wait for three weeks before judging effectiveness. I've been told that it often takes that long.
I wonder why people are so adverse to trying innocuous treatments, such as turmeric, first?

Hi Kiki--I'm taking Nature's way capsules (450 mg of turmeric, dried extract (root), 95%cucuminoids, 50 mg turmeric (root), quoting from the bottle), 3 per day. It's OK to say a brand name, isn't it? Is that amount enough? How much did you take?
As for my scalp, it's always itchy and flaky, not just in the winter! :( It's also around the hairline and ears and has been on scalp/hairline/ears constantly since age 7, with the hairline p creeping out further in the past several years. Even in times of clearing in other areas, the scalp and elbows can always be counted on to stay flared up. The elbows can clear with tanning bed therapy at least. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd look good with a shaved head, otherwise I could probably clear my scalp with UV also! ;)
I'm definitely willing to try something safe like a spice or vitamins first. At this point, if these things don't work, it's time for systemics since I doubt insurance will cover biologics yet. I'll be 40 later this year and am not going to have more children, so I've waited til I'm past the child-bearing years concern that my derm always had. It would suit me fine if I could avoid having to go that route, but I'm glad it's there in case I do.
I'll wait the 3 weeks per your advice. Thanks for the feedback!
Cindy
