Koo Menter Psoriasis Instrument

You can help your patients by asking one simple question: "How has your psoriasis been affecting your life?" The answers you get may be about more than plaques—they may be about everyday living.
The Koo-Menter Psoriasis Instrument (KMPI) is a simple, scientifically validated assessment tool.1 The first page of the KMPI is the patient self-assessment, which includes questions about quality of life, current body involvement and psoriatic arthritis symptoms. The second page, which you can complete during the physical examination, incorporates the patient's quality of life score from the self-assessment, total body surface area (BSA) involvement, disease severity and the viability of phototherapy as a treatment option to help you conclude whether the patient is a candidate for systemic therapy. The KMPI may also improve physician-patient communication by involving the patient and placing value on their assessment of their psoriasis.
For more information about the instrument and how it can be used to make treatment decisions please refer to the manuscript cited below. For more information, call 800.723.9166 or e-mail research@psoriasis.org.
