National Psoriasis Foundation launches new mission statement
Today, the National Psoriasis Foundation launched a new mission statement: To
find a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and to eliminate
their devastating effects through research, advocacy and education.
"As the national organization that represents the 7.5 million
Americans living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, it was
important for the Foundation to refine its mission to reflect the
Foundation's current focus and future priorities aggressively pursuing
a cure for psoriatic diseases," said Dale White, chairman of the
National Psoriasis Foundation Board of Trustees.
At the February 21 board meeting held in Washington, D.C., members
also approved the Foundation's strategic plan, which provides direction
to Psoriasis Foundation volunteers, staff and board members, for
finding a cure. Specifically, the plan calls to:
Increase the Foundation's role as a catalyst in scientific discovery.
Accelerate the Foundation's ability to change conditions and policies that pose barriers to the mission.
Increase the capacity of individuals and health care providers to
effectively manage and treat psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis and improve
overall health.
"Research, advocacy and education programs are the cornerstones of the
Foundation's mission and strategic plan. They will guide the
Foundation's renewed efforts to bring about the end of these prevalent
and debilitating autoimmune diseases," said Mark Lillie, chairman of
the National Psoriasis Foundation Strategic Planning Task Force.
