F.A.N. mail: Foundation Advocacy News

Think you don't have time for advocacy? Think again!

Get beyond the myths of psoriasis advocacy!

Advocating for a better world for people with psoriasis can be as simple as sending an e-mail, writing a letter or making a phone call. In 2009 alone, advocates of the Psoriasis Action Network have sent over 10,000 letters to members of Congress. This has helped secure more than 90 co-sponsors of the Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritic Research, Cure, and Care Act of 2009 (PPARCCA). If you haven't written a letter to your members of Congress, do it today.

Here are a few inspiring stories to motivate you.
  • Recently, advocate Lillian Pagano of Chicago decided to intensify her advocacy efforts. At a "Congress on your Corner" meeting hosted by Representative Peter Roskam, Lillian shared information with him about the PPARCCA bill and took a great fair shake photo with the Congressman!

  • Vickie Dowing, Cristy Boisvert and Amy Savacool of southern California recently scored big with a PPARCCA co-sponsorship from Representative Duncan Hunter. Their persistence paid off and helped to add one more member of Congress to the list of psoriasis champions.

  • Jon Bos, a new member of the Psoriasis Action Network from Texas, seized the opportunity to join the psoriasis movement and arranged a meeting in the district office of U.S. Representative Randy Neugebauer.

These stories are great examples of how we can take advantage of every opportunity to advance the cause for psoriasis. What will you do?
