Living well

Healthy eating

Ensuring a healthy lifestyle is essential for people with a chronic condition such as psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. To help you manage your disease, it is important to consume a healthy diet, control weight, quit smoking, and limit alcohol use.

Always discuss any changes in diet with your physician. Some foods can interact with your medications, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist. Here are some tips for eating well:

  • Eat a variety of foods.
  • Prepare extra.
  • Eat regularly.
  • Watch food portions.
  • Add color to your diet with fruits and vegetables.
  • Choose low-sodium.
  • Use sugar and salt in moderation and try other spices to flavor food.
  • Watch fat and cholesterol.
  • Plan out your meals.
  • Consider supplementing your diet with a multivitamin.
