Important Information for Patients Taking Enbrel

Enrollment in Special Program Required by Jan. 1, 2001

The drug etanercept (brand name Enbrel®) is being prescribed more and more by rheumatologists for rheumatoid arthritis and other joint diseases (including psoriatic arthritis). The high demand for Enbrel means that the drug's supply could be temporarily limited in the future, until new production facilities are completed, according to Immunex Corporation and Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories.

Therefore, the companies are initiating the "Enbrel Enrollment Program." The goal is to create a list of everybody now on Enbrel and reserve a supply of the medication to help ensure that treatment is not interrupted. If you are now being treated with Enbrel, you should call (888) 4-ENBREL (436-2735) to enroll in this program.

Enbrel patients who don't enroll in the "Enbrel Enrollment Program" won't be able to refill their prescriptions for Enbrel after January 1, 2001. An enrollment card will be required for all refills.

Patients prescribed Enbrel for the first time in 2001 may have to wait to begin treatment, depending on how many patients are now on the medication. For more details, call the number above or visit www.enbrel.com.

This information is provided as a service to NPF members who now being treated or may begin treatment with Enbrel.
