First posted May 4, 2001
The National Psoriasis Foundation's newly redesigned Web site, launched in December 2000, has been honored with a Gold Triangle Award by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). The site was recognized for empowering and educating people with psoriasis so they can more successfully manage their disease and contribute to a healthy patient/physician relationship.
Sheri Decker, National Psoriasis Foundation director of communications, and Bill Taggart, manager of information services, traveled to New York to receive the award, which was presented at a ceremony on April 26.
The Gold Triangle Awards (now in their fifth year) honor media, industry, health community, public service and individual efforts that further the understanding of dermatologic issues and encourage healthy behavior in the care of skin, hair and nails.
The National Psoriasis Foundation was honored in the "Health Community Organization: Web Site" category. Also among the more than 50 award recipients for 2000 were various pharmaceutical companies and media outlets; U.S. Sen John McCain for promoting melanoma/skin cancer awareness; and illusionist David Copperfield for volunteering his time to appear in public service announcements about dermatology.
The National Psoriasis Foundation received Gold Triangle Awards in health community leadership for two 1997 public information campaigns, and an award was also given for the Foundation's 1998 "Supermodel with psoriasis" campaign.
