National Psoriasis Foundation names four psoriasis experts to its medical board
PORTLAND, Ore. (March 12, 2013)—To recognize their dedication in caring for people with psoriasis—a chronic, genetic disease of the immune system that appears on the skin that affects as many as 7.5 million Americans—the Portland-based National Psoriasis Foundation named Drs. April Armstrong, Ronald Prussick and Jashin Wu to its medical board. It also reappointed Dr. John Koo to the medical board.
These dermatologists join the board's 20 other psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis experts who provide leadership and guidance to the Psoriasis Foundation on medical issues. Learn about the medical board »
April Armstrong, M.D., M.P.H., is vice chair of clinical research and chair of the dermatology clinical research unit at the University of California Davis Health System in Sacramento. Armstrong also serves as director of the health system’s Teledermatology Unit. She earned a bachelor's degree from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore., her master's in public health from Harvard University School of Public Health and a medical degree from Harvard Medical School.
Ronald Prussick, M.D., F.R.C.P.(C)., is the assistant clinical professor of dermatology at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., and the director of the Washington Dermatology Center in North Bethesda, Md. Prussick earned his bachelor of science in biology and genetics from McGill University in Montreal and his medical degree from McGill's School of Medicine.
John Y.M. Koo, M.D., is vice-chairman of the dermatology department and professor of clinical dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco (USCF) Medical Center. Koo is also director of UCSF's Psoriasis, Phototherapy and Skin Treatment Clinic. Board certified in both dermatology and psychiatry, Koo has expertise in the psychological aspects of psoriasis and eczema. He earned a bachelor of arts in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and his medical degree from Harvard University School of Medicine.
Jashin Wu, M.D., is the associate residency program director and director of dermatology research at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. Wu, who received his bachelor's degree and medical degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., has a background in psoriasis, clinical research and academic dermatology.
