National Psoriasis Foundation Strategic Plan
July 1, 2009-June 30, 2014

Development/Finance

Strategic priority:
To increase the development capacity of the Foundation while maintaining its fiscal stability.

Strategic objectives:

  • To increase total Foundation public support and revenue to $10,000,000.
  • To have installed an ongoing, comprehensive development program consisting of individual, corporate and foundation, special events, payroll deduction campaigns, third party events, planned giving and transactional campaigns.
  • To maintain the current board designated reserve of not less than 25% of total annual fixed operating expenditures.

Research

Strategic priority:
To increase the Foundation's role as a catalyst in scientific discovery.

Strategic objectives:

  • To increase the Foundation's investment in biomedical research awards to $3,000,000 annually.
  • To focus research support on the key pathways that most directly and swiftly lead to a cure.
  • To accurately document the burden of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

Advocacy

Strategic priority:
To accelerate the Foundation's ability to change conditions and policies that pose barriers to the mission.

Strategic objectives:

  • To enact the Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis Research, Cure, and Care Act of 2007 (PPARCCA).
  • To build Psoriasis Action Network Membership to 75,000 with an average response rate to calls to action of 20%.
  • To triple the dollar amount per psoriasis patient that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) spends annually on research.
  • To improve access to care for 1,000,000 health plan subscribers with moderate to severe psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis.

Education

Strategic priority:
To increase the capacity of individuals and health care providers (HCPs) to effectively manage and treat psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis and improve overall health.

Strategic objectives:

  • To increase the number of individuals receiving treatment within the standard guidelines of care by 10%.
  • To increase the number of HCPs who are knowledgeable in treating psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis care.
  • To increase the number of individuals who are accessing Foundation educational resources by 50%.

Community Development

Strategic priority:
To expand the capacity of the Foundation through integrated, community-based Divisions.

Strategic objectives:

  • To have community-based Divisions implementing the work of the Foundation in 10 priority markets.
  • To establish and install a profitable, replicable, community-based business model.
  • To generate 40% of Psoriasis Foundation public support through community-based fund-raising activities.
