Digestive Health Resource Center

Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) are associated with systemic inflammation that increases risk for related conditions, called comorbidities, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

How Does Systemic Inflammation From Psoriasis Affect My Body?

Psoriatic disease is associated with chronic inflammation throughout the body. Psoriasis and PsA are the result of an overactive immune system, which creates inflammation in the body. It is this chronic inflammation that leads to the increased risk of developing comorbidities.

What's the Right Diet?

There is no diet that will cure psoriatic disease, but there are many ways in which eating healthful food may lessen the severity of symptoms of psoriatic disease and related digestive diseases. It is important to talk with your health care provider before you begin any diet.
