What is Icotyde?
Icotyde is the brand name for the oral systemic treatment icotrokinra. Different oral systemic treatments work in different ways to reduce symptoms of psoriatic disease. Newer oral systemic treatments, such as Icotyde, work similarly to biologics by targeting specific parts of the immune system to reduce symptoms and inflammation.
How Does Icotyde Work?
Icotyde is an interleukin-23 (IL-23) receptor antagonist. This means it targets the interleukin-23 (IL-23) receptor, which blocks IL-23 from binding. This prevents the release of inflammatory proteins
How Is It Used?
Icotyde is taken as a pill once daily. It should be taken on an empty stomach with water when you wake up. Always follow your health care provider’s directions on how to take your treatment.
Who Can Take Icotyde?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Icotyde to treat:
- Adults living with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis (approved in 2026)
- Children (12 years of age and older) with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis (approved in 2026)
Common Side Effects
In clinical trials, the most common side effects were headache, nausea, cough, fungal infection, and fatigue.
