Impact of NPF-Funded Reseach

NPF is the largest nonprofit funder of psoriasis and PsA research in the world.

NPF five-year strategic plan. FY 2020-2024. Lead collaborative, transformational research.

Beginning with an initial investment in 1987 through the Pilot Program award, NPF has invested over $30 million in grants and fellowships focused on psoriatic disease and related comorbidities. This funding has provided support to undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, postdoctoral and early career researchers, young doctors, academic scientists, and clinician-scientists. Each dollar, and each person, works towards the goal of improving the lives of people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis (PsA).

NPF FY 21 Funding Graphic Representation

NPF has funded many successful psoriatic disease research programs over the years. This funding often builds the foundation for investigators to pursue larger federal research grants. The Psoriasis Prevention Initiative, a priority grant mechanism, will invest an estimated $6.5 M across five years with the aim of identifying an intervention that will prevent the onset of psoriatic disease, disease relapse, or relevant comorbidities. Another key funding initiative is the PsA Diagnostic Test Grant, which will progress the development of the first diagnostic test for PsA, dramatically reducing guesswork and long delays in diagnosis and treatment
