Dear NPF Community,
When I began at the National Psoriasis Foundation nearly 14 ago, the successes and growth experienced by the organization were only an aspiration. Because of the dedication of our volunteer leaders, our committed community of members and volunteers, and our capable staff, NPF has become the leading nonprofit serving the community impacted by psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Today, the organization is an excellent steward of the grants, funds, and sponsorships invested toward our mission, achieving a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator in ten of the past 11 years. This fiscal year, nearly 80% of NPF expenses will go directly to mission related activities, including a remarkable 36% dedicated to research initiatives. Most notably, NPF is currently funding the Psoriasis Prevention Initiative and the PsA Diagnostic Test grant, two of the largest single investments in the history of the organization.
With the organization so firmly established as a leader, and with NPF successfully positioned to continue the astounding growth well into the future, the time is right for me to retire from my position as the President and Chief Executive Officer. On January 1, 2022, Leah Howard, J.D., who currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of NPF, will assume the role of Interim CEO. Leah has been a leader in the community and organization for nearly a decade. She was instrumental in growing NPF advocacy and patient education efforts, which today include a nationwide network of volunteer advocates and world’s first free patient support program for those impacted by this disease.
The progress made by NPF during my tenure as CEO is because of the dedication and contributions of this vibrant community. While I may no longer be in the office or board room, I look forward to witnessing the bright future for all those with psoriatic disease as we progress toward a cure.
Thank you to all the volunteers who have raised funds and given so generously of their time. Thank you to the dedicated researchers and health care providers who have developed and prescribed the groundbreaking treatments that so greatly improved the lives of those with psoriatic disease. And thank you to the devoted and visionary volunteer leaders on our Board of Directors, Medical Board, and Scientific Advisory Committee who ensure the continued success of NPF.
Sincerely,
Randy Beranek
