Ready, set, walk!

NPF’s community fundraising events are a driving force behind everything we do. Raising vital research funds and awareness through Team NPF events has a direct impact on tomorrow’s treatment options – and gets us that much closer to a cure.

Nothing embodies the spirit of NPF more than our Team NPF Walk. Look, we all can’t run a half-marathon or bike 60 miles. But you know what most of us can do? Take a stroll with others in the psoriatic disease community.

And that’s what makes Team NPF Walk events so special. This low-impact activity makes it the perfect event for people of all ages and fitness levels to come out, learn more about your disease at the pre- and post-walk health fair, and connect with others experiencing the same struggles.

“Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been living with psoriatic disease for years, Team NPF Walk is a great opportunity to join a supportive community all striving for the same goal,” says Kris Bockmier, NPF director of field operations. “With the music blasting and the festival-like atmosphere, rain or shine, we all have a lot of fun out there.”

Empowerment through fundraising
Our walk events aren’t just for those with psoriatic disease, but also for family and friends of anyone with psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis (and anybody who wants to support a great cause – whether or not you have a personal connection to the disease). Jeffrey S. Jacob, of New York City is a staple at his local events. He doesn’t have the disease, but his daughter does. Team NPF Walk presents him an opportunity to be proactive in his daughter’s disease – a disease that leave many parents feeling powerless.

“As I began to learn more about psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, I realized there were promising solutions in development,” says Jacob. I felt I could lend some assistance through fundraising and awareness.”

Team NPF Walk has given him this opportunity, and thanks to his support over the years, he has raised more than $7,100 for psoriatic disease research.

So how does Team NPF Walk translate into more dollars for research? It all starts with you. Sign up for an event and start raising money. Facebook and other social media platforms are the perfect way to let friends and family know that you are fundraising for an important cause. No amount is too small – whether you raise $20 or $2,000, your contribution will have a measurable impact on the lives of millions.

Once the big day arrives, lace up your comfortable sneakers, join us for a pre-walk breakfast and get ready to represent NPF in your community.
