If you have psoriasis, there is one place you most certainly should be this year... and that is NPF's National Volunteer Conference, which takes place August 4-5 in Chicago!
Back in 2011, I had only heard of the National Psoriasis Foundation through brief discussions. I never really took the time to research all the foundation had to offer. I was invited to my first NPF volunteer conference that year. At that time, I didn’t realize how imperative that moment would play into my future with advocacy work.
When I initially attended the conference I went as an insecure young lady who was terrified of speaking out about my disease. But after spending two days at the conference, I became empowered! It not only changed my life, but my outlook on living with this disease. During the conference, the NPF offered different workshops one could attend that covered a variety of topics. This year’s topics include:
• How to get more involved in your community to find a cure
• Advice on parenting a child with psoriatic disease
• The latest on psoriatic disease research as told by the scientists on the front line
• The opportunity to be a part of major NPF initiatives
Check out this video as I discuss in more detail the benefits of the NPF volunteer conference, how it changed my life, and why you should make it a goal to attend this year. Don't worry, there is still plenty of time to register!
