How to write a resolution

The need to be acknowledged runs deep. If you’ve ever wanted government officials to dedicate a day (or week or month) to psoriatic disease or formally acknowledge the work done by NPF, you’ve come to the right place.

You can write a resolution, an official but non-legal document, and present it to your state or local government, such as city council or county board. The procedures will vary among different government bodies. Therefore, if you want to pass a resolution you’ll have to do research on the process specific to your government.

As part of the process, you’ll need to contact your representative for support introducing the resolution – and ultimately getting it passed.

Massachusetts resident Jody Quinn called on her state senator Vinny deMacedo to help pass her resolution celebrating August 2017 as National Psoriasis Awareness Month. Though, even if the state senate hadn't signed it, simply going through the process helped educate her legislators on psoriatic disease and step therapy reform.

A proclamation is another name for a resolution. In the example below, the governor of Alabama proclaimed the week of April 2 to 8, 2018, as National Psoriasis Week thanks to the efforts of a volunteer in the Heart of Dixie.
