DermConnectED

An education and leadership initiative strengthening the clinical and professional development of advanced practice professionals in psoriatic disease.

Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) play a critical role in the evaluation and management of patients with dermatologic diseases, including psoriatic disease. As treatment options and collaborative care approaches for psoriatic disease management continue to expand, it is essential that APPs provide consistent, appropriate, and comprehensive care.

Program Goals

The DermConnectED program will give participants a unique educational opportunity to increase competence related to:

  • Fostering strong interprofessional connections within medical dermatology
  • Recognizing, treating, and managing psoriasis and its associated comorbidities
  • Applying evidence-based best practices to deliver individualized, patient-centered care
  • Integrating shared-decision-making strategies to enhance personalized care and patient engagement
  • Collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary colleagues for expanded access to care and improved outcomes.

The National Psoriasis Foundation’s DermConnectED program offers both mentorship and preceptorship components to enhance lifelong learning in psoriatic disease.

Selected applicants will be paired with a member of the NPF’s APP Advisory Committee. The mentor/mentee relationship will last for a minimum of six months with periodic assessments of effectiveness and satisfaction. Mentors and mentees will be provided the opportunity to attend the 2026 Future Leaders in Psoriatic Disease meeting to be held October 2-3, 2026.

A dyad model comprised of an expert physician or advanced practitioner and preceptee will be paired for a period of three days. It is expected that the majority of precepted placements will take place within the clinical practices of current NPF Medical Board members. The precepted experience will be followed by a thorough evaluation and certificate of completion.

“One of the most impactful experiences of my professional life was the week I spent with Dr. Lebwohl in his clinic. I felt so much more confident in my ability to care for patients with psoriasis after that experience. I learned so much!”
