The National Psoriasis Foundation Research Grants Program funds and promotes research in psoriatic disease and related comorbidities, in line with the mission of NPF to drive efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected.
With a long history of supporting those early in their career, the NPF aims to increase the number of clinician-scientists focused on studying and treating psoriatic disease and related conditions.
As a primary goal in the current strategic plan, leading transformational research in psoriatic disease, NPF chooses research projects not only for their potential to yield information that may help treat psoriatic disease, but also to answer basic questions about the underlying disease mechanisms, comorbidities and public health.
Applications undergo a rigorous scientific peer-review by a panel of experts. Then they are selected for funding based on patient input and NPF priorities.
All of our available funding opportunities are searchable on ProposalCentral. Applications are now open for the 2021 cycle.
Available Funding Opportunities
More Than Skin Deep: Mental Health
Funds projects focused on investigation of psoriatic disease on mental health, as well as interventions for addressing this comorbidity.
Translational Research Grants focus on helping scientific discoveries that come from clinical, laboratory or population-based studies move rapidly into treatments that can benefit patients with psoriatic disease.
Early Career Research Grants support graduate students and postdoctoral researchers training to conduct psoriatic disease research independently. The goal is to put recipients in a position to compete for larger grants in the future and be in a strong position to establish successful, long-term careers within the psoriatic disease research field.
Support researchers who have submitted meritorious but unfunded K-type (career development) and R-type applications to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), or similar funding body, with a focus on psoriatic disease or related comorbidities. In addition, NPF is expanding eligibility to include late-stage trainees or newly appointed faculty that have experienced COVID-19 related hardships due to research delays or hiring freezes.
In this exciting grant opportunity, NPF seeks applications for research that supports projects focused on treatment durability, remission and the path toward a cure.
Summer Student Research Grants support undergraduate and medical students interested in conducting a summer of research focused on psoriatic disease or related comorbidities under a mentor's supervision. The goal is to foster the development of promising young scientists who will go on to become bench researchers or clinician scientists focused on improving the lives of those living with psoriatic disease.
Psoriatic Disease Research Fellowships provide support to eligible institutions to develop and enhance the opportunities for physicians training for research careers in academic dermatology and rheumatology.
