National Volunteer Conference
Aug. 4-5, 2017
Chicago, Illinois

The 2017 National Volunteer Conference was held Aug. 4-6 in Chicago in conjunction with the National Psoriasis Foundation Research Symposium. This is the second time we’ve combined both events, following the success of our first experiment in San Francisco in 2015.

More than 200 people attended the conference and more than 120 attended the symposium. Everyone had the chance for some one-of-a-kind networking:

  • On Friday evening at the Together for a Cure Reception and Scientific Poster Session, scientists funded by NPF could speak directly with the people who might someday benefit from their research.
  • On Saturday, patients shared their perspectives with researchers at round-table discussions on comorbidities (related conditions), psoriatic arthritis, the genetic basis for psoriatic disease, the connection between psoriatic disease and the bacteria we carry in our gut, tonsils and skin, and the biomarkers that might predict treatment outcomes and disease progression.

We ended the long weekend on Sunday morning with 75 happy people on the move for a Team NPF Run and Walk through downtown Chicago.

In between, we learned about psoriatic disease, embraced old friends and greeted new ones, celebrated our past and rededicated ourselves to our future. Thank you to those of you who attended; who worked to make these events possible; and to everyone who helps to support the mission of NPF: to drive efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected.
