Medicare open enrollment

Get the coverage you need

The Annual Open Enrollment for Medicare prescription drug coverage is Oct. 15, 2017 – Dec. 7, 2017. This is the only time to make changes to your Medicare health plan and prescription drug coverage for 2018. Open enrollment is a time to compare plans and find the plan that works best for your prescription drug needs. To ensure you are enrolled in coverage that meets your needs, use the Medicare Plan Finder Tool for a personalized search of medication coverage and estimated costs.

A few things to keep in mind during open enrollment

  • If you decide to keep your current plan for 2018, you don't have to do anything during open enrollment.
  • Drug plans change every year and changes can include: monthly premium, annual deductible, copayments or coinsurance and the list of available drugs.
  • Be sure to compare plans for more affordable prescription drug coverage, especially if you are on a biologic.
  • Each state has a State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) that offers free counseling at or call 1.800.MEDICARE
